My name is Azad — and no, I was not born with this name.

Azad is what people call me because of what I stand for. In Urdu and Hindi, Azad means freedom. And that is exactly what Bitcoin represents to me — freedom from banks, freedom from inflation, and freedom from a financial system built to work against you.

The name stuck. And so did the mission.

From Bitcoin to altcoins to scams — and back to Bitcoin

I got into Bitcoin in 2019. Like most people, I quickly got distracted by altcoins. More coins, more promises, more opportunities. I chased quick money. I got scammed. I lost money.

After going through that pain I stopped. I went deep. I read the books. I attended the events. I took the courses. And I kept coming back to the same answer every single time — Bitcoin. Not crypto. Bitcoin. There is a difference and it took me losing money to truly understand it.

Why I live in Abu Dhabi and why that matters

I have lived and worked in Abu Dhabi for years. I know what it feels like to fight with a bank to access your own money. I know what it feels like to send money home and watch fees eat into it. I know what it feels like to watch your savings lose value sitting in an account earning 1% interest.

Abu Dhabi is one of the most Bitcoin-friendly cities in the world — zero capital gains tax, clear regulations from ADGM, and a government sovereign wealth fund that has purchased hundreds of millions in Bitcoin. Yet most people living here — Indians, Pakistanis, Arabs, expats from everywhere — still do not fully understand what Bitcoin is or how to use it safely.

That gap is exactly why Azad Money exists.

Why I started teaching

Every week I meet people in Abu Dhabi and Dubai who are being scammed. Someone on WhatsApp promised them 300% returns. A Telegram group told them to buy a new coin before it goes to the moon. An Instagram influencer told them to invest in something they do not understand.

I went through this myself. I know how it feels.

So I decided to do something about it. I started Azad Money — Abu Dhabi’s only Bitcoin-focused education platform — to teach people in this city and across the UAE how Bitcoin actually works, how to buy it safely, how to store it so nobody can take it from you, and how to think about it as a long term tool for financial freedom.
